TEAM COACHES and DIRECTORS
Coach Melissa (PCM Laguna)
I am a PCM head coach and the Laguna Gym Director. I am a former member of the 18-time UCA College National Champion University of Kentucky Cheerleading Program. I have been involved in cheerleading since 1996, and my roles in the industry have included athlete, coach, camp instructor, choreographer, gym director, gym owner, event producer, and judge. I am currently a certified USASF Safety Judge. My favorite part of coaching cheer is seeing the joy my athletes feel when they learn something new or perform well at competition.

Coach Shelly (PCM Anaheim)
I am the Gym Director and Team Coach in Anaheim. I live and breath this sport and have been either cheering or coaching since 1996. I am certified by the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA) and am also an Accredited Interscholastic Spirit Coach of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) as well as CPR and First Aid certified. I have been the head cheer coach of Esperanza High School in Anaheim California since 2010 but my coaching experience stems back to Arizona where I also cheered throughout high school and college before moving to California in 2009 to finish my bachelors degree at California State University Fullerton.
I have been with PCM since 2011. My favorite thing about coaching is taking a group of kids with different backgrounds, skill levels, attitudes, and personalities and transforming them into a team. When we win a banner, backpack or jacket it's just icing on the cake. The reward is in our journey. I love watching these kids grow over the years as both people and athletes and being there to cheer them on throughout their childhood. The best feeling is when an athlete you helped mold and grow comes back to you when they are older and thanks you for contributing to their success. It's why doing this never gets old and instead keeps getting better. We are constantly changing and never run out of kids to teach and impact. I strive to make sure every student that I have the honor of coaching leaves with a positive and memorable experience.

I love coaching because hard work always pays off and watching athletes push themselves to reach individual and team goals will always inspire me.
My favorite quote is, "There is no ceiling or limit to what you can do, always keep reaching to be your personal best and be conscience of the curve that you grade yourself on."

I've worked at many local gyms before finding my home at PCM. I've also had stints coaching high school cheer including Laguna Hills JV and Fountain Valley Varsity. As a competitor, I've won national championships, trophies, medals, banners, jackets, backpacks, ribbons, a spirit stick and even a trip to Hawaii. As a coach, I've helped athletes win and progress in the sport. My favorite part of cheerleading is being a positive influence in an athlete's life. I've realized that the littlest moment to you, might be a significant one that kid will always remember. I don't have a favorite quote but quotes I use a lot lately are, "oh snap!", "things just got real in here." and "that..just...happened"
